Kavita Singh

Kavita Singh is an associate professor of art history at the School of Arts and Aesthetics of Jawaharlal Nehru University. She received her MFA in 1987 from MS University, Baroda and her PhD in 1997 from Punjab University. Her research interests cover the history of Indian painting, particularly the Mughal and Rajput Schools, and the history and politics of museums, with special reference to India.

Before joining JNU, Singh served as a research editor for Marg Publications, during which time she co-curated the exhibition Power and Desire: South Asian Paintings from the San Diego Museum of Art, Edwin Binney 3rd Collection. Kavita Singh led a curatorial team for the second exhibition of the newly opened Devi Art Foundation titled Where in the World. She has several publications to her credit and has written extensively for Journals and edited volumes.
