Independent Scholar & Researcher
Kristine Michael is a ceramic artist, art educator, independent scholar and researcher based in New Delhi. She has held over 15 solo exhibitions of her works, which are also in permanent collections in Essl Museum Austria, Cartwright Hall, Bradford, UK, The Clay Studio, Philadelphia, The British Council Art Collection, UK, National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, and World Ceramic Forum, Icheon Korea. She has represented Indian ceramic art at international forums such as ASNA Clay Triennale, Karachi, 4th World Ceramic Biennale, Korea, Verve Ceramic International Conference Brisbane, World Crafts Council Symposium, Sydney.
Her artist residencies include The Clay Studio Philadelphia, Indus Valley College of Architecture Karachi and Penland School of Crafts USA. She has curated several ceramic exhibitions on artists such as Sardar Gurcharan Singh, Devi Prasad, and in 2007, Indo Korean Contemporary Ceramic Art Exhibition. In 2006 she curated 3 galleries of 19th cent Indian pottery at Albert Hall Museum, Jaipur for the Rajasthan Govt under INTACH.
Her awards and grants include the Nehru Trust Visiting Fellowship to the V&A Museum London, Charles Wallace Trust Award, Sanskriti Fine Art Award and the IFA Research fellowship.
She currently works as Curriculum Leader for Visual and Performing Arts and IB Visual Art Examiner at The British School New Delhi.
