A Special Evening with Storytellers: William Dalrymple and Mahmood Farooqui with Darain Shahidi on March 8 at the Auditorium, National Museum, Janpath in the Capital. This programme has been created to around the special exhibition Nauras: The Many Art of the Deccan.
The special exhibition titled Nauras: The Many Art of the Deccan opened on January 27 at National Museum.
It has been curated by Preeti Bahadur Ramaswamy and Kavita Singh, and the focus of the show is the cosmopolitan culture of the Deccan region that the art of the sultanate reflect.
The evening will comprise of a talk by William Dalrymple on Courts, Courtesans and White Mughals: Hyderabad under Nizam Ali Khan and Jagatguru, Ghawasi, Qutub shah and Wali: Readings from the greats of Dakani Poetry by Mahmood Farooqui and Darain Shahidi.
While William Dalrymple is a British historian and writer, whose interest include history and religion in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and the Middle East, among many others; Mahmood Farooqui is a writer, director and artist who specializes in a 16th century Urdu story telling art called Dastangoi.
